What does this practise? (a quick guide for parents)

Speed of recall is what separates "knows their tables" from "uses their tables". The gentle time pressure here trains the same instant answer muscle as the Year 4 multiplication check and, later, the pace of an 11+ maths paper, but with lives, levels and a high score instead of a test grade.
